ISMSF Award Nomination Procedure.
First step of the ISMSF Award Nomination Procedure starts when an Applicant contacts the Fund by sending the Application and all required documents.
This first step is initiated and completed by an Applicant (with help of Fund Board if needed). Upon completing the Application accompanied by appropriate
and relevant corresponding papers, references, links to sources, etc., a Nominating Committee updates the status of an Applicant to a Candidate.
On the Second step of the Award Nomination the ISMSF Nominating Committee processes the Candidates selection by selecting 3 Nominees for the Award based on the Selection Criteria below.
This step is completed by preparing written recommendations for Board review.
On the Third and final step the Board of Directors reviews the recommendations and makes the final decision regarding the Award Recipients.
Selection Criteria.
General.
All Candidates seeking the ISMSF Scholarship Award should demonstrate bright personality, exceptional academic results, and dedication to studying and work, and commitment to family,
community, and friends. Candidates also should show the financial need. The awarded Scholarship is paid to a College to be specifically spent against College Tuition and/or other educational needs.
Applicant Must Be:
- An entering or returning student at an accredited undergraduate institution in the United States and must be enrolled full time
- Studying for an undergraduate degree for the first time
- A United States Citizen or Resident Alien
- A permanent resident of New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania States
Financial Need
- Qualifying applicants will have one or more of the following:
- Substantial unmet need
- Heavy student loan burden
- Special financial circumstances
- Low EFC (Expected Family Contribution) from the FAFSA Student Aid Report(must be attached to the Application)
Academic Excellence
- Applicants should:
- Have a GPA of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Be enrolled in a demanding course of study
- Demonstrate skilled writing ability
Character and Serious-Mindedness
Applicants should:
- Demonstrate a desire to make a meaningful contribution to society both present and future
- Be involved in a balance of community, school and work activities
- Pursue goals and aspirations with integrity, resolution, self-discipline and judgment
- Earn money for college expenses through part-time work
